Mason Jar Watermelon Mint Margaritas

While I would love to say I came up with this idea all on my own I must be transparent with you all. The watermelon mint recipe itself is in fact my own… a future family member gave me a secret way to pre-make your margaritas for tomorrow’s adventure.

The best part about this tip is that they’re portable! If you haven’t guessed it yet, a mason jar is what makes this recipe unique. These Mason Jar Watermelon & Mint Margaritas are the perfect way to host your poolside party.

Tips & Tricks

The recipe itself is simple because it only requires you to add everything to a blender and press a button. We won’t be adding any ice to this recipe either. Instead, just freeze the watermelon before you add it to the blender. This gives the same slush effect without the beverage becoming diluted and messing with the flavor of the drink.

Mason Jars for Easy Prep

With the mason jars, we are going to fill the top line and seal it with the lids. If you don’t have mason jars handy I highly suggest purchasing some. They’re inexpensive and can be used for just about everything. I regularly use them in place of blender bottles when all my bottles go missing (I’m fairly forgetful and leave them in random places).

Making Sour Mix

A sour mix is needed for the recipe otherwise it just wouldn’t be a margarita. You can make a sour mix by combining equal parts lemon juice and lime juice. With this lemon-lime mixture, you’ll then combine it with equal parts lemon-lime mix and simple syrup. You will also need a simple syrup to make a sour mix. Simple syrup is typically a 1 to 1 ratio of water and sugar. I like to lighten that up just a tad and use coconut sugar instead.

*A simple alternative is to mix 1 cup of water with ¾ cup of coconut sugar for simple syrup.

You could also just buy a pre-made sour mix. There are so many fresh and organic options to choose from nowadays that I wouldn’t be mad about it. This isn’t supposed to be stressful.

A final secret I’ll share is the addition of cucumber to the Recipe. The cucumber helps lighten the flavor of the drink making it perfect when sitting poolside or on the beach. It gives a little freshness to a slightly sweeter beverage. Please enjoy my Masón Jar Watermelon & Mint Margaritas and be sure to leave a comment below if you have questions! Mason Jar Watermelon Mint Margaritas

Use this refreshing Mason Jar Watermelon Mint Margarita recipe for your poolside event this summer and enjoy tequila bliss.

  • blender
  • 6 mason jars
  • 6 cups ½ in cubes watermelon
  • ½ cup sour mix
  • 1 cup tequila silver
  • ⅓ cup triple sec
  • ¼ cup orange juice
  • ¼ cup diced cucumber
  1. Place watermelon into a freezer-safe food container and place into the freezer for 3 hours or until hardened.
  2. Once hardened, combine the watermelon, mint leaves, cucumber, tequila, triple sec, and sour mix in a blender and blend until smooth.
  3. Pour the Margarita mixture into the mason jars making sure not to go above the 16oz line. (Otherwise, you risk having a watermelon & mint margarita explosion in your freezer.)
  4. Freeze for at least 3 hours if you can resist not drinking it all immediately. Ok, you can have one, but the rest is for your guests.
  5. When you have about 30 minutes before you’d like to serve your margaritas, take them out of the freezer and let them rest until you’re ready to pass them out. Give them a quick shake before serving and pop the lid. Use a watermelon slice for garnish if you’d like or a reusable straw. Then bask in the glory of all that is margarita and dip your toes in the water for watermelon & mint margarita bliss.
