Some Friday nights just come together the right way. Last week that meant ending up at Wilton Lanes, and honestly, I didn’t know I needed it until I was already there holding a microphone.

First: Karaoke
We didn’t plan for karaoke. We just kind of fell into it, the way you do when the vibe is right, and someone hands you a song list. There’s something about karaoke that strips away every bit of self-consciousness you thought you had. You’re up there, the lyrics are rolling, and suddenly it doesn’t matter how you sound. It matters that you commit.
We committed.
Then the Lights Changed
At 9 pm, Wilton Lanes flips into Glow Bowl mode, and the whole energy of the room shifts. Blacklights, glowing lanes, music up, it’s a completely different night than the one you walked into. That transition from karaoke stage to bowling lane is kind of perfect, actually. You’re already loose. You’re already laughing. Now you’ve just got a ball in your hand.
The Setup
Thirty dollars gets you two full hours on the lanes. Shoes aren’t included, so factor that in, but everything else; the lights, the atmosphere, the ridiculous fun of watching your friends bowl under blacklights, that’s all part of it. I took my time picking up my ball. I take that part seriously. The shoes were broken in. I was ready.
The Bowling
We took turns. We cheered. We had some near-misses, a few honest strikes, and at least one moment where someone’s form raised serious questions. I threw a trick shot. I’ll let the video speak for itself on how that went.
Why Wilton Lanes
Fort Lauderdale has a lot of ways to spend a Friday night, but Wilton Lanes earns its place on the list. It’s not trying too hard. It’s just genuinely fun; the kind of place where you show up for a couple of hours and end up staying until you realize how late it got.
Glow Bowl runs every Friday and Saturday starting at 9pm. $30 per person for two hours. Shoes not included.
Go. Bring people. Sing something first if you can.
Wilton Manor Lanes is located in Wilton Manors, Florida.
